I've always believed that true luxury must have a soul.

For me, that soul was found in the rustle of my grandmother's silk saree, a fabric that carried generations of stories, strength, artistry, and love within every thread.

Yet the story of PATTU KADHAI began long before it became a brand.

In 2020, during the darkest days of the pandemic, I lost both my parents within five days of each other. Before my heart could begin to process that grief, life dealt another devastating blow, and within a few months, I lost my grandmother, the woman who had been my greatest source of comfort, wisdom, and strength.

Three generations. Three pillars. One unimaginable silence.

In the midst of that loss, I found myself holding on to memories.

Memories of festivals filled with laughter and warmth. The fragrance of fresh flowers woven into hair. The rustle of heirloom silks. Stories shared over evening conversations. Rituals that brought families together. Traditions that quietly shaped who we are.

And I realized something profound:

When we lose the people we love, what remains are the traditions they leave behind.

PATTU KADHAI was born from a desire to preserve those traditions not as relics of the past, but as living expressions of culture that continue to evolve.

As I travelled through the weaving towns of South India and stood beside the master artisans of Kanchipuram, I witnessed a level of craftsmanship that deserved to be celebrated far beyond the boundaries of heritage wear. I wanted to see this extraordinary artistry move beyond the cedar chests of our homes and onto the global stage.

I wanted to give the timeless beauty of handwoven silk a new, modern, architectural destination.

At PATTU KADHAI, we do not simply create garments.

Every weave, every motif, every handcrafted detail carries a fragment of memory. Every piece honours the hands that create it and the generations that inspired it. We work with the finest handwoven silks of South India, reimagining them into contemporary silhouettes for the modern woman, one who respects where she comes from and embraces where she is going.

To me, couture is not merely fashion.

It is storytelling. It is a memory made tangible. It is love that can be held. It is heritage that can be worn and passed on.

PATTU KADHAI is my tribute to the women who shaped me, to the artisans who continue to preserve our craft, and to the rich cultural legacy that deserves to be celebrated in new and meaningful ways.
